Carpenter Bee

Carpenter bees are large and look very similar to bumblebees. The differ in that the top of  the carpenter bee's abdomen is shiny black as opposed to covered with hair like the bumblebee. These bees are active throughout the summer months. They often burrow their nests in exterior wood surfaces of buildings.
